Career Training Introduction

Southwest Adult Basic Education (ABE) offers Career Pathways programs designed to help individuals combine work and education while earning in-demand post-secondary credentials. These programs provide training that leads to higher credentials and employment opportunities.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

These programs prepare students for roles in healthcare settings, focusing on patient care and medication administration.

Welding

This program equips students with the skills needed for various welding techniques, preparing them for careers in manufacturing and construction.

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

The CDL training includes pre-CDL instruction, permit preparation, and arrangements for behind-the-wheel training, leading to opportunities in the transportation industry.

Paraeducator Training

This program prepares individuals to work as paraeducators in educational environments, supporting teachers and assisting students with diverse learning needs. Participants learn skills in classroom management, instructional techniques, and working with special populations.

Community Interpreter Training

This program is designed for individuals interested in providing language interpretation services. It focuses on developing skills in bilingual communication, cultural competency, and interpreting in professional settings such as healthcare, education, or legal environments.

Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council (PIC)

We partner with the Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council (PIC) to provide career training programs. PIC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a thriving workforce across a 14-county area in southwest Minnesota. They offer employment and training services, business support, and youth career development in partnership with employers, schools, and other organizations.
